The Role

RIPL Product Managers partner with government administrators and program experts, mission-aligned organizations, and other stakeholders to develop and deliver high-quality, science-powered solutions that address policy challenges and administrative needs.

The Senior Product Manager position reports to the Director of Product Innovation and is responsible for an entire solution lifecycle, from discovery and ideation, to strategy and development, to launch and iteration. They execute against RIPL product roadmaps, ensure the team has reliable and repeatable processes, leverage and support staff creativity, and inform RIPL Leadership about progress, outcomes, and impact.

Job Responsibilities

Product Strategy and Development

      • Own and execute the product roadmap for assigned solutions and products.
      • Conduct market research and user analysis to identify end-user needs and opportunities for product innovation.
      • Define product vision, strategy, and goals, ensuring alignment with RIPL’s and partners’ policy and administrative objectives.
      • Develop and manage product requirements documents and user stories.
      • Prioritize features and backlog items based on business impact and user needs.

Product Delivery and Management

      • Work closely with cross-functional teams (particularly Partnerships, Technology, and Science) to ensure smooth product development and delivery.
      • Manage each project and product’s development hours budget and other resources effectively.
      • Track product performance and KPIs, providing insights to the Executive team, the VP of Solutions, and other stakeholders.
      • Identify and mitigate product risks and dependencies.
      • Own and manage the launch process for new products and features.

Stakeholder Management and Communication

      • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders (e.g., executive team, customers, partners).
      • Translate product vision and strategy into clear and concise communication for different audiences.
      • Manage stakeholder expectations and provide regular updates on product progress.

Team Leadership and Collaboration

      • Lead and mentor product team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
      • Champion product thinking within the organization and help others understand the product vision and strategy.
      • Build consensus and resolve conflicts effectively.

Additional Responsibilities

      • Identify and recommend new opportunities for existing solution and product innovation and growth.
      • Contribute to the improvement of product management processes and practices within the company.

The Ideal Candidate

      • At least four years direct work experience managing agile software development projects from ideation to completion, delivering quality work within required timelines and executing the day to day with excellence while keeping in mind the big picture.
      • Experience managing product development projects for the public sector, working within government policy constraints and political realities.
      • Experience working with cross-functional teams with a bias towards action, willingness to flex to what is necessary to deliver the work, and ability to build consensus.
      • Experience applying a policy lens to every stage of the development lifecycle including discovery and road-mapping exercises with government partners, prioritization efforts with teams and with stakeholders, and continuous iteration during delivery.
      • Proficiency with agile development tools and processes to facilitate sprint ceremonies, coordinate with the technology team to refine requirements, groom and prioritize tasks, and track and report on progress.
      • Proficiency with UX design and research disciplines to develop research plans, conduct user research and testing activities, and develop low-fidelity prototypes.
      • Experience developing products with Cloud technologies (e.g. GCP, AWS) is a plus.
      • Proficiency with a programming or data analysis language (e.g., Python, R, Stata) and data analytics and visualization tools (Tableau, Microsoft Power BI) is a plus.
      • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work or training experience.
